Abstract/Executive Summary
Assistive technology refers to any product, device, or system that helps individuals with their care and aids with tasks that have become difficult due to physical, cognitive, or sensory limitations. Within the scope of assistive technology are mobile health (mHealth) applications, which utilize mobile devices to provide healthcare services and information. Due to the mHealth applications' implementations on mobile devices, their adaptability is universal and accessible. This research aims to develop a mHealth application that is primarily accessible and designed specifically for caregivers by using their recommendations as the main references alongside literature reviews. It explores the features of mHealth applications designed to cater to patients, as they are currently the only available options. Furthermore, it examines challenges faced by caregivers in managing their patients’ information, particularly in relation to note-taking practices, scheduling tasks and appointments, and managing medications. To create the application, this study adapts the Kivy-based framework to create its graphical components, such as its widgets, layouts, and screens. The main features are immediately accessible on the home screen, occupying the majority of the interface, leaving only the three navigation buttons under them for the menu, home, and account buttons. These features are intended to ease the workload of caregivers and aim to be transformative as the demand for supportive tools for caregivers grows.
