Abstract/Executive Summary
Choosing a career path marks a significant juncture, shaping an individual's professional future. Understanding the role of parental involvement in this decision-making process illuminates the importance of robust support systems and mutual understanding between parent and child. This descriptive-survey research examines parental effect on career decision-making among senior high school students. Utilizing a validated researcher-made questionnaire, 327 senior high school students at Adamson University participated in the study. Findings indicate that the factors under parental involvement which include Parents’ Financial Capability, Educational Attainment, and Values significantly affect students’ career choices, as per its calculated median scores of 3. Moreover, Career Interest, Job Opportunity, and Career Inheritance significantly affect students’ career choices as per its calculated median score of 3. Aiming to inform educational strategies and career counseling practices to facilitate informed career choices. The study recommends employing a mixed-method study to delve deeper into the relationship between parental involvement and career decision-making. Future research avenues include investigating parental involvement from a psychological perspective and expanding the scope of factors influencing parental involvement and students' career decisions.
