Abstract/Executive Summary

Organic farming uses biological fertilizer inputs and lessens the reliance on chemicals compared to conventional farming. This improves ecosystem services and impacts water quality, soil health, and biodiversity. This study aimed to determine the experiences of local farmers in Valencia City, Bukidnon, who are integrating organic farming. Specifically, the study focuses on organic farming practices, challenges, and consequences. In addition, the researchers utilized snowball sampling. The sample population of this research is composed of five (5) organic farmers from Valencia City, Bukidnon. The researchers conducted a semi-structured one-to-one interview with the participants. Moreover, the researchers developed five (5) themes after analyzing, coding, and organizing the data. The result implies that organic farmers utilize several organic practices, such as composts, vermicasts, and traps for pests. Organic farmers face challenges like weed and pest control and low production rates. The findings also show that, despite the challenges, farmers still produce different organic products from their farming.
