Abstract/Executive Summary

The prevalence of impulsive buying tendencies is slowly manifesting itself in today’s consumer-driven society. When paired with psychological factors such as body image dissatisfaction and self-esteem, an increase in an individual’s impulsive buying tendency was observed in numerous studies. Thus, this research paper aims to provide an overview of the relationships between impulsive buying, body image dissatisfaction, and self-esteem of DLSU-SHS Manila students AY 2023-2024. Using a quantitative research approach, the primary data was collected through survey questionnaires distributed to a sample size of 99 students. The collected data was then analyzed using the Chi-Square Test of Independence and the Spearman Rank Order Correlation. The results showed a significant relationship between impulsive buying and body image dissatisfaction among DLSU-SHS Manila students, with notable variations by gender where females exhibit a significant association, whereas males do not. Conversely, there was no significant relationship between impulsive buying and self-esteem, yet this association also varied with gender, with males showing a significant correlation while females did not.
