Abstract/Executive Summary
Inattentiveness in the classroom is a common occurrence for almost all students, and they sometimes cannot help, which could be a problem for teachers and students themselves. At the same time, depression and ACE are experiences that are found to be correlated to inattentiveness. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the mediating role of subclinical depression between adverse childhood experiences (ACE) and inattentiveness in the academic setting among adolescents. Additionally, it examines how each variable relates to one another. This paper used mediation analysis to present the indirect and direct relationship of ACE to inattentiveness and the mediating role of subclinical depression. This study suggests that subclinical depression mediates the relationship between ACE and inattentiveness in adolescents. It is significant to study this as it may help solve the problem of inattentiveness that most students face in the classroom.
